The Charlotte transmitter site project was the complete electrical buildout of a new television transmitting system for a local cable news affiliate at a remote tower transmitter site outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. The project involved a new 800 ampere underground electrical service, a 500kW diesel powered standby power generator unit, an 800A bypass isolation transfer switch, a 350kW Uninterruptible Power Supply and the interconnecting electrical feeders and cable tray. The project required close coordination with the television transmitter installation team to ensure that the proper infrastructure was in place for the new equipment racks and cooling systems that were installed to support the new transmitter. The project was an overall success, coming in at the allocated budget and within the timeframe allotted for the project.
